Suspected abandonment since 2004. Both the city’s planning department and Google maps surveys show the front door wide open. I swear this house must have it’s own ecosystem growing inside. I’d be very interested to know how many little brown jobs live there. I can vouch for a couple squirrels calling it home.
Very heavy fire damage (as photographed) in rear of building. Those are paint pellets littering the side of the house (green and orange colors common among vacants in this neighborhood).
Probably would have photographed this house anyway due to it’s architecture. Several blocks of out of place post war – late 70′s inspired ranches/raised ranches in this area.

A neighbor says it’s been vacant since the old owner passed away and left it to her children. They didn’t move in or sell it and it was shortly thereafter gutted by fire. Apparently the (grown) children are local and the site is current on property taxes.

Once upon a time a very happy couple bought this house. They must likely imaged raising their children there. Sharing their home with grandchildren and finally leaving their house to their children where so many memory were developed. It’s a shame that their children could treasure this gift. I don’t mean to critize, I just feel as a current home owner I would want my children to do something more productive even if they choose not to keep it.
Of all of the houses I have seen on this site, this one appears to be the most salvagable. As a single family, it has a limited number of systems that would need repair/replacement. The fire damage would be easier than a multistory. There is little upper story weight, so shoring to replace burnt members would be less of a job. The vinyl siding is Home Depot stuff. Best, it is privately owned. If they wish to sell, the dealings would be much simpler.
