Nice looking house, not sure what is going on here. Getting uglier by the day. Been boarded at least six months by my count. Neighborhood “repair” shop sees a host of Forgotten Auto Carcasses in the rear, which is to say nothing of the Forgotten Kitties living under the porch.
This house is worth saving, though city records thus far are unclear as to why it’s in limbo. Foreclosure is always the guess.
I’d move in tomorrow.
Access now through the rear door, place looks to have been f*ed up up pretty good inside.
A realtor told me this house had been sold but there are no signs a buyer has been near it. Not any “real” buyer that is; perhaps this is simply one of the many untold examples of banks flipping and trading properties like cattle. Or poker chips. Or “assets.”
Update June 2009
Bank owned, listed at $64,500. Under house features is says “cable ready”. Ooh, thanks.

I’ve traveled through Providence a lot on GoogleMaps and Pine Street is one of my favorite places. I agree with you about this wonderful house – and also about those cute little kitties, too! I wish I could rescue them all. I’ve posted a link to the next block of Pine St. heading east; there’s a mysterious renovation job going on there and I wonder if you know anything about the original use of that old, brick building? This section of Pine is a wonderland for me. I feel as though I may have once lived here in another life.

Indeed it has promise. Those cats are feral btw. Nice little clowder of cats in the back too I see.
If I ever get even $10K together I plan on buying property. What the hell, a $20K mortgage, hell I’d give em’ a 5 year on that and pay what, maybe $400 a month on a mortgage.
I am very disturbed by city’s lack of action on potential revenue. I tried desperately in 2005 to buy a house anywhere in RI and even SWAP denied me. Where is SWAP now?? I hope they are in the process of stripping their board and starting anew. Stop selling to banks and work on collecting taxes!
Hi Tony.
Yeah, I didn’t mean to suggest the cats were left behind. I’m sure that happens but those lil’ dudes were obviously feral. Actually, I’ve seen quite a few feral cats running around abandoned houses. At least they’re finding use.
