Not even a nearby Whole Foods can save it. Recently torched, property records say it was owner-occupied (at least partially), but what’s going on here? Insurance company not coming through on funds? Owner actually out of town? No signs of foreclosure.
Aside from the front facade, it looks to be a total loss. Nothing left of the second floor, and I suspect, the first. Might have been a neat place.
No way to tell now.
And why are there so many abandoned, fire damaged homes across the city of Providence? Was there no homeowners insurance?

I’ve lived across the road from this house for almost 9 years.
To be honest I can’t say I miss the occupants much – one memory is a man on the porch changing the diaper of a child and throwing the old one into the middle of the street.
Of course my access to narcotics and prostitution isn’t as convenient as once was. And I do miss the 3am booming car sound systems parked in front.
Correction to your notes, most definitely not recently torched. Went up in flames Dec 24th 2005 I believe.
Woa Stu. Great comments. I changed the notes on the right to reflect as such on the dates.
So has it been in this state for 3+ years now? Anyone ever working on it? The garage is full of metal as if someone is saving up for a scrap run.
Went on the market January 28, 2010 for $29,900. Off the market (sold?) by Feb 12, 2010. Standing by …
A recent visitor to our neighbors downstairs told me that he locates Doyle Avenue by the sight of this house. I’m not surprised. This house extends the farthest toward the sidewalk–its porch almost touching the sidewalk–so that the casual eye of a motorist driving up Doyle, heading east, falls first on this eyesore. And at night, the streetlight on that part of the street stands directly across from it, rendering it illuminated more than any other house on that part of the street. I expect that when this place is either removed or completely re-built, the entire Doyle Avenue will benefit.
Work has begun! A crew is now gutting this house. Apparently the owner feels it’s worth renovating vice demolishing.
