At 60,000 it is approaching a price where someone could make it work. I am not up on current codes, but all that asbestos and tar paper shingle scare me. I expect it would cost a fortune to remove and not add significantly to the rental value. I understand RI has recently become “enlightened” and will allow encapsulation (vinyl siding). Still, it has two layers of siding on it now. I don’t think a third would enhance its appearance.

This is sad to see. I grew up in this once thriving neighborhood in the 50’s and the people who lived in this house were very meticulous about it’s upkeep.

I think my comment was misunderstood. I have had a number of obviously intelligent guys working for me whose education stopped around the 7th grade. Some kind of failure in the system.

I tried helping a couple with their “equivalency” examinations, it is amazing how difficult it is to explain “converting” fractions when you haven’t thought about it in years. Almost as difficult as the correct spelling of equivalency, I wanted to put in two A’s.

If it weren’t a declaration with an exclamation point, I don’t think I would find is as funny. But not trying to make a slight on the author; it’s likely they were dealing with other pressing issues.

And I’m not a web-comment spelling snob either. Keyboards are pretty damn unnatural.

You’ve got to understand who makes America work. I was gutting a building once and had a stack of lath 15 feet high. I told the guys to bundle it and put it out front as “Free Kindling”. (A dumpster would have been $700) They couldn’t handle “kindling”, so we settled on “free firewood”.

I did notice 5-6 misspellings in my previous comment. Must be “fat fingers”.

Odd mixture of asbestos siding on the first floor and asphalt siding ont he remainder. Prpoerty card indicates that Deutsche Bank foreclosed a mortage for 216K it in ‘07, also that it is for sale at 60K. After two years, I expect that they would “entertain offers”.
