Baird St
I live on Baird ave, and there has recently been an abandoned house on the end of my street. I’m not sure of the number exact, but when you turn onto Baird ave from sweet licks and sas food mart (across from twins pizza) it will be the first blue house on your left.

159 Ontario St (Elmwood)
Thanks for doing this. I live in Elmwood, and I see many of these houses in my daily life. It fills me with sadness.
This blighted mansion, on an otherwise pleasant block of Ontario Street, which was recently foreclosed and abandoned. I live two houses away and try to keep the grass in front along the sidewalk mowed, but I’m very concerned that nothing is being done about the house’s rapid deterioration. I’m afraid it’s going to be lost to vandals or fire. It’s a magnificent house – or was. It should be documented on the website.

I took a walk down Bergen St. yesterday. There are at least a half dozen houses abandoned within a couple of blocks, including one with the ever popular “copper is gone” graffiti on the front door.

121 Grove St. is all boarded up. I noticed while walking the dogs today. It’s a few doors down from the Grove St. school.

899 Manton Ave. (Olneyville)
Three family home, was foreclosed in October ’08, the three families living there left over the course of the next couple of months (the last leaving in January). Home is owned by Citi. The servicer is Home Island Realty, which is a shady family operation run out of an office on Cranston St. – we’ve talked with a number of renters who have had bad experiences with them. Last I checked the home had a lockbox on the front but was not boarded.
129-131 Bellevue (West End)
We recently had three members of the RI Tenant and Homeowner Association who moved from this home. It’s now empty.
35 Peter St. (Charles)
Single family home, the people living there were renting to own before it was foreclosed in December (I think) (the former owner lives in CA). Really nice place, the family living there was pushed out in January by Prestige Properties at the behest of GMAC. Unsure of condition, last I saw they were changing the locks.
123-125 Wilson St. (West End)
Double, foreclosed in August of last year. Owner had a subprime mortgage with American Home Mortgage Systems/Option One. Serviced by Westcott Properties. Live-in landlord and tenant left in March. Not boarded, but lockbox on the front door. Wilson St. is in really bad shape – there are three vacant properties in a row on the end, including this home, and there are others on this small street. I know of two more homes there that have been foreclosed there where tenants are still living.
36 Brattle St. (West End)
Three-family home, foreclosed in September of last year by HSBC. Two families left almost immediately, the remaining woman left with her children in October after HSBC had the water cut to the home. House was vandalized shortly thereafter, but (last I checked) was not boarded.
Also, FYI, there are large clusters of empty buildings on Atwells after crossing Valley St. as well as on Union Ave. in the West End.

Potters Ave – coming south on Elmwood Ave from downtown, Potters is
about 1/2 mile. Right on Potters before the gas station, Calder is a few
streets on your left… also a boarded up house on Potters oppositive
number 572 I think..
am sure you’ll find lots more houses around Calder St

Hey! Just writing to report two houses on Harris Street in Providence — right over by the train tracks, heading towards Olneyville. I’ll try to get over there to take some good pictures in the next few days but thought if you were looking for something to record you might be interested in these. One of them — Google Street View says it’s 651 Harris — caught fire a few years ago while my mother and I were nearby. We watched the firefighters kick in the windows and I remember commenting to my mom that it wouldn’t be too long before squatters took over — it obviously hasn’t been, and while it’s boarded up now, I know that it’s been rotting for awhile. The house next door also appears boarded up on Street View — we spoke to a man who lived there back when the fire happened, but it’s been looking worse and worse ever since.

Hanover is off of Cranston Street south of the Armoury..
